Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will manage various aspects of finance, ensuring that financial data is accurate and up-to-date for quick decision-making. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing monthly management account reports for review by the Finance Director.
  • Reconciling monthly sales, WIP, COS, and stock accounts.
  • Taking ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Supporting the Finance Director with the annual budgeting process.
  • Identifying and implementing new or improved financial processes.
  • Managing the accounts mailbox, communicating with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders professionally and efficiently.
  • Posting purchase invoices on the finance system, ensuring accurate cost coding and PO matching.
  • Managing recurring revenue invoices and direct debits.
  • Reconciling bank transactions against sales and purchase invoices, ensuring correct VAT documentation is obtained.
  • Preparing weekly payment run files for review by the Finance or Managing Director.
  • Chasing overdue debts from customers.
  • Reconciling monthly driver sales and payouts, and calculating monthly sales commissions.
  • Posting accruals and prepayments at month end and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.

What the Ideal Candidate Looks Like
The ideal candidate will be a newly qualified accountant (CA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with experience using Xero or similar accounting software. They should have excellent attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to improve processes. Strong communication and organizational skills, a proactive attitude, and proficiency in Excel (Vlookups, pivot tables) are essential. Experience working with a startup or SME would be an advantage, and the candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
