Social Worker Child Protection

SW Locums have an opportunity to source a competent and capable, Qualified Social Worker to complete assessments for children in need, including those in need of protection, children looked after. This First Response post in Harrow offers support those subject to public care proceedings and, where directed by the Court, children subject to private law proceedings.

You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, monitoring and review functions for all allocated children and families.

Applicants must be proficient in being able to hold a caseload of a number of children and families, including children in need of support, those in need of protection, and children looked after, requiring a statutory service.

The team is supportive and well established offering regular supervision and manageable caseloads.

Essential Requirements:

• Must have a recognised Social Work qualification (e.g. CQSW, DipSW or equivalent).
• The post holder must be registered with Social Work England.
• Hold right to work in the UK.
• Applicants are expected to complete all mandatory training and be willing to undertake other intermediate and more specialist training when necessary and appropriate, as determined through regular appraisal and development.
• Working Knowledge of Best practice standards and evidence based outcomes.
• UK experience of social work practice, which should have included casework responsibility for direct work with children and families within a statutory fieldwork setting(s).

The post holder must have a working knowledge of all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including:

• A detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other legislation relating to children plus other statutory regulations, guidance and procedures.
• A detailed knowledge of the Framework for the Assessment of Children and Their Families .
• Regulations and Standards.
• Government Objectives and Initiatives.
• National and Common Assessment Framework.
