Do you have the vision, expertise and person-centred values to be able to make a real difference to the lives of people with mental health support needs in a high quality service in Hinckley? We have an exciting role for a proactive mental health recovery practitioner with leadership and management skills to set up and manage a new-build mental health supported living service commissioned by Leicestershire County Council, working in partnership with Inclusion Housing Association, referrers, Care Managers and other agencies.
You will have relevant experience of working with people with mental health needs within a person centred, recovery focussed framework and will demonstrate knowledge of mental health needs/conditions, recovery principles and helpful interventions. You will have skills in promoting independence, tenancy sustainment and positive risk management.
You will work with service users, their families, Inclusion Housing and other agencies to assess needs and to plan a successful transition into the service, creating the foundations for greater independence and personal fulfillment. Individuals moving in to the service will vary in age and need, may be moving from other placements or may not have held a tenancy before. You will ensure that individuals are enabled to make progress in their personal recovery journey and to attain goals relating to their mental health & wellbeing, independence, maintenance of their tenancy, quality of life and community connections. This will be achieved through co-producing outcome-based support plans which build on strengths and assets and promote meaningful occupation, resilience and capacity for self-management.
You will promote a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere and ensure that staff are skilled in promoting recovery and positive engagement, with relationships based on respect and unconditional positive regard. You will ensure that that there is a strong commitment to equality and diversity. You will be committed to community asset-based approaches and be able to collaborate creatively with community partners as our delivery model is characterised by the use of volunteers and peer supporters as well as paid staff and by close partnership working with statutory mental health services and voluntary agencies.
As the Team Leader you will ensure that our services are delivered effectively in accordance with assessed needs, contract requirements, quality standards, and outcomes. You will need to have strong verbal and written communication skills and be confident in the use of IT as you will be responsible for collating data and using electronic monitoring.
Your varied and rewarding role will include responsibility for:
• Leadership and operational management of the service
• Deployment of staff according to assessed needs
• Management and co-ordination of all aspects of service delivery
• Liaison and joint working with the landlord
• Assessment, support planning and positive risk management
• Mentoring, supervising and supporting staff
• Organising person-centred reviews
• Enabling pathways to independence and move on as appropriate
• Promoting the service to referrers and potential service users
• Building positive partnerships
You must have at least two years relevant experience, preferably gained in a mental health service or supported accommodation setting. A professional mental health or social care qualification, or a relevant degree (such as psychology) is essential. You must demonstrate excellent assessment, support planning and report writing skills. You will be able to demonstrate skills in motivating staff and promoting effective team work. You will be warm and emotionally intelligent with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with service users, their families and partner agencies. An understanding of trauma informed approaches and psychologically informed environments is desirable.
This role requires flexible working on a 7 day rota which may include evenings and weekends.
Your work base will be the supported living service which is located close to Hinckley town centre and comprises of 14 well designed, self-contained one or two bed apartments, with a communal lounge and on-site staff office.
