Economist (Policy) - up to £54,000 based on experience- London, United Kingdom (Hybrid)

Chi Square Economics is partnering with a leading UK regulator which is looking for an economist to join its growing chief economist team in London. They have offices based across the UK and are looking for an economist in their team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation have a real impact on how regulatory decisions are shaped in one of the most currently discussed sectors.

Role

You will be a key member of the regulatory economics and policy team working predominantly on microeconomics projects with a focus on regulation and policy issues such as setting rules to help customers, assessing regulatory changes, and conducting market reviews to set out new regulations and policies. This is an excellent opportunity for those with experience working on economic concepts and having an open mind to different concepts. You will have the opportunity to work with economists, policy associates and many more experts in this space.

As an economist, you will be leading streams of analysis to answer complex questions in the regulation and policy space. You will be a key voice in the way the organisation addresses its new regulations and policies going forward.

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

• At least a bachelor’s degree in economics or related degree (e.g. Policy with Economics – this role is heavily qualitative)
• An understanding on regulatory issues and their implementation
• Strong understanding of multiple microeconomic concepts
• Ability to look at economic concepts with multiple viewpoints
• Prior experience working on and managing policies
• Strong analysis skills
• Ability to work individually and manage own work
• Right to work in the UK
