An opportunity has arisen for a new Senior Manager to join the Executive team here at Thwaites. 

Thwaites are the leading independent manufacturer of site dumpers based near Leamington Spa. As a privately owned manufacturing business we invest for the long term in employees.

This position will have overall responsibility and accountability for the Engineering function which will include people and budgetary management.

We are looking for a dynamic individual, with a passion for engineering, and the drive and determination to enhance our world class earth moving product. Thwaites designs and develops all aspects of its own products from cradle to grave.  


Purpose of the Role:

Strategic responsibility for implementing engineering strategy and strategic operational goals to meet customer expectations for product development, quality, cost and delivery, maximising efficiency, optimising and driving engineering excellence. Ensure Thwaites remain a market leader for the quality and design of its product.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, manufacturing, sales, purchasing and customers.
  • Responsible for all areas of the Engineering function and quality of service delivery, striving for best-in-class products and business practices to deliver to the customer’s expectations, managing teams and projects across the business.
  • Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence and mentor them as they develop new skills. R&D tax lead.
  • Drive key performance indicators across all areas of the Engineering function to ensure that all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards.
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues in design and development are prioritised and facilitate and drive continuous improvement across all engineering related areas of the business.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure manufacturability of product (NPI) while maintaining quality, safety and environmental standards and achieving cost targets in a timely fashion.
  • Industry/Market compliance.


Qualifications and Experience Levels:

  • Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification.
  • Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related professional body.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading an engineering function with a proven track record in strategic engineering leadership delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes and systems.
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
  • Proven project management and supplier experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level.
  • Experience of machine design/production in the off-highway construction/agricultural equipment sector is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with CEA Industry body.
