Job Requirements/Description

We are seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced Rankings and Recognition Manager to join our vibrant University community. The role, which is newly created, reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications, and will play a key part in ensuring the University is properly represented in national and international league tables, while also enhancing the reputation and recognition of our academics and researchers, professional staff, and supporters – and, thereby, that of the University as a whole – through a range of high-profile prizes, awards and honours.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive team that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence. If you have a passion for academia and the reputational enhancement of the University, and want to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.

The role

As the Rankings and Recognition Manager, you will be responsible for providing expert support to the Executive Board in driving the University's rankings performance and securing prestigious awards and honours for our faculty and staff. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Provost on major rankings coordination, including data collection, analysis, and submission
  • Identifying opportunities for recognition in the form of major prizes, awards, fellowships, and national honours.
  • Supporting the Vice-Chancellor and Provost in determining which prizes and honours to target, and in identifying worthy candidates from the wider University community.
  • Preparing and coordinating nomination materials for submission.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive database of nominations, awards and award winners.
  • Collaborating with our Marketing team to promote rankings, prizes, and awards.

About you

We’re looking for someone with a passion for identifying excellence and a desire to help our researchers, academics, and professional staff receive the recognition they deserve. You’ll be ambitious, with the drive to help the University of Surrey achieve appropriate rankings in national and international league tables.

An excellent communicator, you’ll be comfortable translating complex subjects into language accessible to a wider audience. You’ll work effectively with individuals at all levels, establishing credibility with staff and key stakeholders across the organisation including forming business partnering relationships with the Vice-Chancellor, Provost, and other key members of the Executive Board.

What we can offer

In addition to salary, you will receive a yearly incremental pay rise, generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 7 university closure days and 8 bank holidays, a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.
