Teaching Assistant (Year 12 Student Support)
Location: Secondary School, Bexley
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (until the end of the academic year)
Pay Range: Dependant on Experience
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, working specifically with a Year 12 student. The primary focus of this role is to assist the student in developing self-regulation skills that will enable them to thrive in the school environment. This is a full-time position, starting immediately, and will continue until the end of the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborative Implementation: Work collaboratively with the student, teachers, and CAMHs to implement a personalised Safety Plan.
- Support Strategies: Implement strategies within the plan to support the student in managing emotions and behaviour, maintaining focus, and completing tasks in the classroom.
- In-the-Moment Support: Discreetly provide in-the-moment support to the student during class time as needed.
- Progress Documentation: Document progress and collaborate with the team to adjust the plan as needed.
- Positive Relationship Building: Maintain a positive and encouraging relationship with the student.
- Professional Conduct: Uphold the school's professional code of conduct and confidentiality policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Previous experience working with vulnerable adolescents in an educational or support setting is essential.
- Self-Regulation Strategies: Strong understanding of self-regulation strategies.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Rapport Building: Ability to build rapport and trust with vulnerable students.
- Calm and Patient: A calm and patient demeanour with a positive and encouraging attitude.
- Professionalism: Strong sense of professionalism, responsibility, and confidentiality.
- Observational Skills: Ability to observe and document behaviours accurately.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience working with children in a school or support environment.
- DBS Check: Must have a DBS on the update service.
