Operating from its base near Shrewsbury and working in Shropshire and adjacent counties the business focuses on building quality homes in prime locations. Shropshire Homes work on a variety of projects from select developments of 4 & 5 bed detached homes to high quality apartments and large developments incorporating a wide range of house types.


The Role

Assisting our Services and Agreements Manager in the procurement of new mains services schemes and co-ordination of service diversions, securing road and sewer adoption agreements and subsequent adoption of this infrastructure by local highway and drainage authorities. Procurement of traffic management to facilitate new developments and supporting our current developments in delivery of new service connections as well as the effective delivery of public open space areas for future maintenance the local authority or management company.


Key role responsibilities

This is permanent role and while some experience is desirable, full training will be provided. The main duties are:

  • To obtain existing services data and assist with creation of drawings to assess implications of existing services on new developments
  • To obtain budget cost estimates for new services and diversion of existing services to assist in the preparation of budgets for land acquisition.
  • To obtain new detailed mains service and diversion quotations including designs for use in the preparation of site budgets for construction.
  • Creation of drawings to enable installation of ducting for construction new highways.
  • Assist project Technicians in securing highway and drainage approvals and to then assist with obtaining formal legal agreements from highway and drainage authorities for the delivery of new site infrastructure.
  • Procurement of new street lighting schemes and costings for preparation of site budgets for construction.
  • Undertake site inspections with highway and drainage authorities in the interests of highway and drainage adoption.
  • Attendance at meetings with statutory service providers prior to infrastructure start to ensure mains service delivery and to then ensure mains services and house connections are delivered to programme.
  • Undertake inspections of public open spaces to ensure compliance with approved planting schemes prior to hand over to local authorities or management companies.
  • General administrative duties in support of the role and as required from time to time in support of the Technical Department.

You may be required to undertake other such duties as the organisation may reasonably require in connection with the role.


Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • To be well motivated with a desire to succeed.
  • Be customer aware and want to provide good customer service.
  • Be well organised and at times self-sufficient, some experience of working within a team in a ‘service’ based role would be helpful.
  • Some experience of project management would help but is not essential as full training will be provided.
  • A good communicator, approachable and polite and be able to work across all levels of the organisation.
  • A construction background would be useful but is not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Be familiar with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
  • A construction-based qualification or working toward this would be useful but is not essential as full training will be provided
  • Some experience of Autocad would be useful but not essential as full training will be provided.
