Are you a specialist within ICT Procurement, with experience as a Category Manager or looking to take your next step into a more senior role?


We are partnering with one of London's leading emergency service providers to find them a Category Manager of ICT on a permanent basis. You will be joining them whilst in the early stages of a multi-year transformation.


You will be focusing on developing and managing all category procurement and contract activities to support our ICT needs. This role is integral to their Community Risk Management Plan and requires a strategic approach to procurement, supplier performance, and risk management. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with procurement policies, fostering stakeholder engagement, and achieving performance targets.


Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead and manage high-risk and complex procurement activities from identification of need to contract signature.
  • Develop and manage category plans, sourcing plans, and contract awards.
  • Conduct market analysis and develop multi-year category plans aligned with the team’s transformation plan.
  • Use and promote procurement data analytics and management information.
  • Engage with stakeholders proactively, manage expectations, and resolve conflicts.
  • Ensure procurement activities are executed within agreed timescales.
  • Oversee the forward programme of procurements and manage resources to meet demands.
  • Develop and implement ICT Category strategy and manage category risks.
  • Collaborate with other functional bodies to aggregate demand and share best practices.
  • Manage supply chain risks and performance measures within contracts.
  • Assist in setting, monitoring, and managing annual expenditure budgets.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in procurement, category, and contract management within the ICT category.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement procedures and regulations.
  • Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply and/or MCIPS membership (or working towards it).
  • Senior-level experience managing complex multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Strong written communication skills for preparing complex contractual and management documentation.
  • Staff management experience with a focus on development and performance.
  • Proficiency in IT applications and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage compliant procurement activities.
