Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Support Engineer to join our team on a zero-hours contract basis. As an out-of-hours support specialist, you’ll be working remotely and will play a crucial role for our customers. You will have the responsibility for troubleshooting IT issues, providing technical support, ensuring network security, and managing networking activities.
Responsibilities:
- Availability: Be on standby during specified out-of-hours periods (evenings, weekends, and holidays) to respond promptly to incidents and service requests.
- Remote Support: Provide remote technical assistance to end-users, diagnosing and resolving issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Incident Management: Log incidents, prioritise tasks, and escalate critical issues as necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and procedures.
- Communication: Keep stakeholders informed about ongoing incidents and expected resolution times.
- Security: Ensure compliance with security protocols and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in IT support, preferably in an out-of-hours capacity.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows and macOS environments.
- Familiarity with remote desktop tools and ticketing systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or equivalent are a plus.
Compensation:
- Flat Fee for Availability: We offer a competitive flat fee for being on standby during out-of-hours periods.
- Hourly Rate: In addition to the flat fee, you’ll receive an hourly rate for any actual work performed during these hours.
