You will be joining an industry leader in the commercial insurance and reinsurance marketplace with aggressive plans that build on our existing industry leading software capabilities. You will be working within the Product Management team specifically on established policy administration systems for the large commercial and specialty insurance markets.


Role Brief

  • As the Insurance Software Product Manager, you will be involved with developing and managing the strategic roadmap for existing and established PAS insurance software as well as managing new insurance modules needed in the UK mid-market business lines. You will work with the development teams on the existing Policy Admin Systems to refresh the technology and to manage the Blueprint2 initiative and the needs of the current and future market needs.
  • In the role, you will explore and develop product ideas, whether interviewing customers, looking at competitors or investigating open-source technologies, performing market research, or analysing internal data, usage patterns, and be a truly explorative mind, focused on driving continual progression to your own product vision against the backdrop of the business’ product strategy.
  • There are many great ideas, but only some can be developed so you’ll collaborate with UX, engineering and leadership to prototype and prioritise what’s best for product development.
  • You will act as a conduit between users and our engineering team(s). You’ll work with users, your product portfolio lead, and the wider business to understand the needs, business requirements, and systems functionality for the commercial insurance market customer base. You will have the technical skills to work with engineers to deliver, the business acumen to make informed commercial designs, and an eye for detail.
  • This role is suitable for someone who enjoys working with business teams, users, and technology teams to deliver software products – you will be a central pillar in the organisation’s success and progression.
  • You’ll need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with excellent time management, to be able to work across many business teams at both a user and technical level and have a strong focus on outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy aligned with business goals, market trends, and customer needs. Define product vision, goals, and roadmap to drive product development and growth.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, marketing, and sales to gather and prioritize product requirements. Conduct market research, customer interviews, and competitive analysis to inform product decisions.
  • Product Development: Lead the product development process, working closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality software products on time and within budget. Define product features, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Drive agile development methodologies to iterate and improve product functionality.
  • Product Launch: Plan and execute successful product launches, including coordinating marketing campaigns, sales enablement, and customer support initiatives. Monitor product performance and gather feedback post-launch to iterate and enhance product features.
  • Product Performance: Analyse key metrics and KPIs to measure product performance and success. Identify opportunities for product optimization and enhancement to improve user satisfaction, retention, and revenue.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and customers. Communicate product updates, milestones, and roadmaps effectively to ensure alignment and transparency across the organization.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks and obstacles that may impact product delivery or performance. Develop contingency plans and adapt product strategies as needed to address changing market dynamics or business requirements.


Product Exploration


  • Research and design for the Companies market Blueprint 2 initiatives.
  • Gather near term and long-term needs for electronic placing and signings messages.
  • Develop roadmap for medium to long term policy admin and management needs.
  • Work closely with stakeholders (such as customers, business development) to understand and manage needs and priorities.
  • Translate market and stakeholder needs into product requirements and definitions
  • Collaborate with UX and Engineering on feature ideas and prototypes to bring potential solutions to life


Product Development

  • Refresh the products technology and modernise
  • Blueprint 2 initiatives incorporated into the Policy Admin System
  • Integration to Acord messaging standards
  • Product roadmap for existing Policy Admin Systems and new policy focused products
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to guide feature development and prioritisation
  • Translate user requirements into executable statement of works for engineering teams
  • Be the "voice of the customer" during specification and development stages
  • Influencing and collaborating while balancing commercial product development


Skills and Experience

  • 5 -7 years product management experience or senior product BA with a Policy Administration System is important.
  • Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of software development processes and technologies.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of successfully leading product initiatives from concept to delivery.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, product management tools, and software development best practices.
  • Degree level education
