Position: Senior Business Unit / Business Development Manager - Engine Division

Location: Buckinghamshire, UK (office based Monday-Wednesday)


My client is a World Leader in the Motor Manufacturing industry and supplier of top-tier commercial and residential engines, catering primarily to the Turfcare and garden equipment sector, as well as general industrial applications. With a strong foothold in the market, they are renowned for their commitment to innovation, quality, and customer service.


They are recruiting for a Senior Product Manager to manage the overall functioning of the Engine Department and out business structure throughout their trading area. To develop all aspects of their engine business via Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and the Private Distributor (PD) networks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Department Management: Ensure the smooth running and development of the Engine Department, implementing all ongoing plans and policies.
  • Budget Management: Develop all business plans (BP) and ensure all budget expenditures align with these plans.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Professionally represent the business in interactions with existing and new OEMs, private distributors, and industry organisations.
  • Team Coordination: Ensure effective collaboration within all sections of the Engine Department, working towards the overall business strategy.
  • Global Collaboration: Maintain strong working relationships with key international teams, in Japan, USA and Vianen.
  • Staff Management: Handle all staff-related issues within the department.
  • Special Projects: Manage special projects as requested by senior management.


Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Engineering degree or a similar qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a comparable position with comprehensive experience across all main functions of the department. At least 10 years of commercial experience in the engine or related product businesses.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of 2-stroke and 4-stroke technology and the General-Purpose Engine (GPE) market.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English. Proficiency in French, German, or Italian is preferred but not essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and general computer literacy.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel internationally frequently.
  • Personal Attributes: Self-motivated with a strong sense of cultural sensitivity and adaptability.


The candidate must be willing to travel extensively across Europe and occasionally globally.
