Field Service Engineer – Global Packaging Manufacturer - Central England
Alexander Steele have partnered with a global leader in sustainable packaging! They design innovative, eco-friendly consumer packaging using renewable and recycled materials, partnering with some of the most recognised brands in the FMCG industry to reduce environmental impact.
We are seeking a skilled technician to install, service and maintain industrial machinery at customer facilities. This role is part of a dedicated technical service team that works closely with sales and manufacturing to meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control systems on machines installed at customer sites
- Oversee machine upgrades, overhauls and field tests of new designs
- Collaborate with sales and manufacturing teams to address customer issues and support new business opportunities
- Apply continuous improvement methods to enhance equipment productivity
- Use IT systems and applications to complete tasks efficiently
- Provide training to customer staff on safety, machinery maintenance, and product handling
- Prepare timely service reports and update technical documentation as needed
- Conduct audits and assess machine performance
- Liaise with other companies on joint projects
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
- Technical training in industrial or mechanical engineering
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical systems and PLCs
- Candidates must have some experience of troubleshooting Servo systems.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methods (e.g., Six Sigma)
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours to meet customer needs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Valid driver's license
