Field Service Engineer – Global Packaging Manufacturer - Central England


Alexander Steele have partnered with a global leader in sustainable packaging! They design innovative, eco-friendly consumer packaging using renewable and recycled materials, partnering with some of the most recognised brands in the FMCG industry to reduce environmental impact.


We are seeking a skilled technician to install, service and maintain industrial machinery at customer facilities. This role is part of a dedicated technical service team that works closely with sales and manufacturing to meet customer needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control systems on machines installed at customer sites
  • Oversee machine upgrades, overhauls and field tests of new designs
  • Collaborate with sales and manufacturing teams to address customer issues and support new business opportunities
  • Apply continuous improvement methods to enhance equipment productivity
  • Use IT systems and applications to complete tasks efficiently
  • Provide training to customer staff on safety, machinery maintenance, and product handling
  • Prepare timely service reports and update technical documentation as needed
  • Conduct audits and assess machine performance
  • Liaise with other companies on joint projects


Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Technical training in industrial or mechanical engineering
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical systems and PLCs
  • Candidates must have some experience of troubleshooting Servo systems.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methods (e.g., Six Sigma)
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours to meet customer needs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Valid driver's license
