Health, Safety & Environment Manager

Stoke-On-Trent

£60K + 10% Bonus (2-Year Fixed-Term Contract - Potential for Future Projects)

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of energy?

We’re working with a leading player in the cleantech industry, a company that's revolutionising the way energy is produced and consumed. They need someone who’s not just up to the challenge of overseeing safety on a large-scale industrial project—they need someone who thrives on it. Could that be you?

This client is at the forefront of renewable energy solutions, helping industries across the globe transition to greener, more sustainable operations. And now, they’re looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager to oversee the construction and installation of a 300MW grid-connected Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) right here in the UK.

Your New Employer

Our client is a top-tier company operating in the renewable energy sector, known for their innovative solutions and forward-thinking approach. They specialise in everything from energy efficiency to infrastructure upgrades, and they’re on a mission to make the world a better place through sustainable energy. They’ve been leaders in the industry for years, and their commitment to excellence shows in every project they undertake.

This is an incredible opportunity to work with a company that pushes boundaries, embraces innovation, and is always thinking ahead. You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, creativity, and impact—and you’ll help them make sure it all happens safely.

Your New Role

As the Project Health Safety & Environment Manager, you’ll be the on-site authority for health and safety during the construction and installation of a major energy storage project. You’ll work closely with site personnel, coaching and advising them on the implementation of the client’s Integrated Management System (IMS). You’ll also lead environmental, health, and safety programs, making sure every aspect of the project complies with industry guidelines and regulations.

From safety meetings to inspections, audits to emergency action plans, you’ll have your finger on the pulse of the project’s safety at all times. You'll also ensure that subcontractors meet the strictest safety standards, conducting reviews and providing follow-up support where needed. It’s a role that demands expertise, leadership, and attention to detail.

Your Background

You know your way around large-scale industrial projects, especially when it comes to health and safety. With at least 5 years of experience in safety management, particularly within the electricity transmission and distribution industry, you understand the risks and how to control them. You’ll also hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, an Internal Audit qualification (ISO 45001), and ideally be a Chartered or Certified Member of IOSH.

But it’s not just about qualifications. You’re someone who can lead by example, someone who can work with teams and ensure everyone’s on the same page when it comes to safety. You’ve got excellent communication skills and a track record of delivering results on complex, high-stakes projects.

In Return

Our client offers a competitive salary and the chance to be part of something truly special. You’ll join a company that values diversity, creativity, and innovation, providing you with a comprehensive benefits package that includes insurance, investment, and incentive plans. If you’re looking for a role that will challenge you and help you grow, this is the one.
