About the SEMH Teaching Assistant Role:

SENDhelp is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with students who have a range of SEN and challenging behaviours. This role is based in Wembley and focuses on helping students with SEMH needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, despite their behavioural challenges. While being a graduate is desirable, it's not essential - we are more interested in your ability to support vulnerable students effectively.

Key Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN and SEMH needs, particularly those with challenging behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised strategies for students with SEN
  • Support students in both 1:1 and group settings, ensuring they stay engaged in lessons
  • Help students develop coping mechanisms for their behaviour and emotions, promoting self-regulation and positive outcomes
  • Maintain consistent communication with staff and parents regarding students' progress
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom environment for all students, particularly those with SEN and SEMH needs

Benefits of Joining SENDhelp as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Competitive daily pay, with weekly payments via PAYE
  • Long-term, full-time role in a supportive school in Wembley
  • Gain experience working with students with SEN and SEMH needs, particularly those who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Work alongside experienced SENCOs, teachers, and therapists to develop valuable skills in SEN support
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression

What We're Looking for in a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with students with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, especially those with SEN and SEMH difficulties
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students in Wembley
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to the needs of students with SEN and behavioural challenges

If you're ready to take on a rewarding challenge and make a real difference in the lives of students with SEN and SEMH needs in Wembley, SENDhelp wants to hear from you! Apply now to become a SEMH Teaching Assistant and start your journey in supporting young people with SEN and SEMH.
