Argus Media is committed to ensuring career and personal growth for all its staff and provides extensive training and career development opportunities, as well as participation in employee-led initiatives, including a women's network. Our core values are Excellence, Integrity, Partnership, and Inclusivity.

What will you be doing?

Argus produces commercial conferences for the energy and commodities markets. We specialise in agriculture, chemicals, crude oil, energy transition, fertilizers, generation fuels, LPG, metals, and oil products. Argus has dedicated conference teams in Houston, London, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, and Singapore, running a global portfolio of 40+ events.

In this key strategic role, you'll be designing and implementing the sponsorship sales strategy for the Argus conference sector. This is a global leadership role with a team of six sponsorship sales managers and executives.

As part of the senior leadership team for Argus conferences, you will be responsible for defining and executing the sponsorship and exhibition sales strategy for the global conference portfolio. You will resource, train, and manage the team of sales professionals to ensure that sales targets are surpassed. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring that best practice, client relationships, and a commitment to quality are at the core of the conference sponsorship & exhibition sales team.

Argus has ambitious growth plans for the conference business. The focus of this role will be to ensure that the people and the systems are in place to ensure Argus can deliver this growth in revenue. That growth will come from maximizing the value of the existing portfolio in core markets and by promoting innovative new products in less mature and new asset classes.

  • Recruit, train, manage and resource the sales team globally.
  • Develop KPIs and transparent reporting across the sales function globally.
  • Define and communicate the sponsorship revenue growth plan for the portfolio, ensuring this meets the strategic revenue and quality targets of the group.
  • Deliver growth year on year while ensuring there are no compromises in quality.
  • Represent the conference sponsorship & exhibition sales team and conference sector to Argus stakeholders.
  • Work effectively with the conference senior leadership team.
  • Create and embed the systems and processes required to maximise team productivity.
  • Refine the sales proposition to maximise potential commercial opportunities.
  • Ensure the conference sales strategy complements the subscription and consulting sales activity within Argus.

What we're looking for in you:

  • A Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years' event sales experience.
  • Previous experience as a leader of a sponsorship sales team based in multiple geographies, ideally across the Americas, APAC, and EMEA.
  • A strong understanding of sponsorship sales strategies, ideally in the commodities market.
  • A track record of exceeding sales targets.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and organise resources to deliver at pace.
  • A strong collaborator with excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Confident with accountability at a senior level.
  • The ability to navigate complex corporate relationships with the other business functions.
  • Client focused, with excellent networking skills; you will enjoy international travel and building long-term relationships with your clients.
  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to manage and inspire remote teams.
  • Believe in the Argus values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence, and Results.

What's in it for you:

Our rapidly growing, award-winning business offers a dynamic environment for talented, entrepreneurial professionals to achieve results and grow their careers. • Flexible working environment.
  • 25 days holiday with annual increase up to 30 days.
  • Subsidised gym membership.
