Regional Director, Belfast, N.Ireland, £55K + £6K Car Allowance, Hybrid: 2-3 days in Belfast, the rest remote
The Role
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is seeking a high-calibre Regional Director to lead and manage the activities of the Northern Ireland (NI) regional team. You will be responsible for delivering the ICE vision, core purpose and objectives in the region, ensuring the effective implementation of the ICE Plan. This is a senior leadership role with a focus on building relationships, influencing decision-makers and promoting civil engineering within Northern Ireland.
Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Focus
- Ensure effective engagement with volunteer members and keep them informed of regional activities and initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in NI, including government, industry bodies and academia.
- Develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of civil engineering and the ICE's role in infrastructure development.
- Provide expert commentary on civil engineering and infrastructure issues, acting as an ICE spokesperson when necessary.
Operational Delivery
- Develop and implement the ICE Plan for Northern Ireland, focusing on member engagement, knowledge sharing and infrastructure policy and external affairs.
- Oversee the delivery of regional events and activities, ensuring they are high-quality and meet member needs.
- Collaborate with other ICE regions and external bodies to share best practices.
People Management
- Provide leadership and direction to the Regional Support Team (RST) and the NI Committee.
- Motivate and engage volunteers to contribute to the delivery of the ICE Plan.
- Progress and implement professional development plans for RST staff.
Financial Management
- Prepare and manage the regional budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Monitor and report on financial performance.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, construction or related sectors.
- Proven track record of managing a team and working with volunteers.
- Experience in business planning, budgeting and financial management.
- Excellent relationship building, communication and influencing skills at a senior level.
- Experience in project management and event delivery.
- Experience of interaction with infrastructure stakeholders.
- Passion for civil and infrastructure engineering and a commitment to promoting the profession.
