Job Requirements/Description

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the dismantling, inspection, reporting, assembly and testing of a range of valves inc safety relief valves, vacuum valves, pilot operated valves, control valves. They will also be required at times for site removal & installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dismantle equipment to component level.
  • Identification of components.
  • Fault-finding on equipment.
  • Rectification work on equipment (Manual Lapping/stroke testing etc)
  • Assemble equipment using engineering drawings or experience/knowledge.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, drawings, schematics, and repair equipment, utilising specialist knowledge and standard test instruments and tools.
  • Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems encountered.
  • Testing of all valves for hydro/pneumatic/seat test etc. to shell standards or to the customers requirements.
  • Carry out all work practices in line with Company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Meet high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Support site activities.
  • Present a professional Image, support and promote brand values at all times.
  • Liaise with workshop personnel at all levels.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Time served Craft Apprenticeship or Equivalent

• Relevant qualification to NVQ Level 3/4

• People Skills, teamwork and collaboration

• Problem solving skills

• Excellent customer service

• Commercially aware

• Good oral and written communication skills

• Experience in the overhaul of valves and their associated tests.

Desirable:

• Fork lift truck license

• LOLER trained or similar (overhead crane)

• Site Safety Passport

• Experience with paint spraying
