About the Role:
Our client, in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), is delivering innovative solutions such as DII(MD) & OpNET onboard Royal Navy and Royal Auxiliary vessels. This project operates within demanding timescales, requiring expertise in industry-leading hardware products including CISCO, DELL, and APC. You will also need to have hands-on experience with Microsoft and VMware technologies, implementing bespoke customer solutions from the factory to the vessel. Strong customer-facing skills are essential, ensuring you represent our client in the best possible light.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build virtualised data centres from an assured baseline solution with supporting documentation
- Service and Incident Management using BMC Remedy
- Configure networks, including Switches, Routers, and Firewalls (CCNA/CCNP preferred)
- Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, PKI, and Windows 10
- Utilise Microsoft technologies such as SQL, Exchange, Skype, SharePoint, and WSUS
- Work with VMware technologies including ESX & vCenter, NSX, Horizon (VDI), App Volumes
- Implement KeePass, SolarWinds, Veeam, Trend, and PowerShell scripting
- Configure Thin Clients & Peripherals (Amulets, Printers, Scanners)
- Update firmware on hardware such as UPS, Servers, SANs, and Switches
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with strong analytical skills
- Support Linux systems and handle bulk user provisioning and data migration
- Engage in configuration management and test and assurance principles
Mandatory Skills:
- General experience with Microsoft and VMware technologies
- Networking expertise
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Security Cleared to SC level or above, with a willingness to advance to higher clearance levels
- Systems/Software Engineering background, covering all aspects of the solution lifecycle
- Knowledge of MOD IT systems, security policies, and enforcement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
