Our Geoscience team:


Venterra’s Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer unparalleled site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet the comprehensive needs of our clients.


As Venterra continues to expand, we are on the lookout for a Geoscience Project Engineer to enhance our team. The selected candidate will work from our Hethel, Norwich office.


Role Description:


As a Geoscience Project Engineer, you will be familiar with most typical infrastructure projects within the field. The role will primarily be office based; however, some site-based work and associated travel will be required from time to time.


The role will require autonomous work, as well as playing a crucial role within a team of Engineers and Consultants to deliver infrastructure, telecoms, and renewable projects. The role would suit a candidate with a background and interest in industries such as land construction, archaeology, marine construction, and environmental science.


Key responsibilities will also include:


  • Engaging proactively with clients to discuss project milestones and deliverables throughout the project’s duration, ensuring the seamless exchange of information and providing continuous support for client operations.
  • Participating in client meetings across the UK, Europe, and globally, either in-person or virtually, to initiate projects and discuss progress and updates.
  • Demonstrating the ability to comprehend client requirements and needs thoroughly.
  • Examining client provided drawings and project/survey specifications meticulously, including a comprehensive review of all technical stipulations.
  • Developing geophysical survey specifications for client tenders and proposals as an integral part of the risk management process.
  • Supplying technical support for tenders to both clients and internal proposal teams.
  • Assessing incoming geophysical data from clients against the expected project outcomes.
  • Analysing project data and generating offshore reports for detailed investigation, employing GIS, Oasis Montaj, and additional software tools for data analysis.
  • Creating GIS charts to effectively present and communicate data to clients in both report and technical formats.
  • Aiding in the development of GIS projects for clients, along with updating and managing relevant spreadsheets.
  • Composing technical reports, including project bridging documents, technical notes, and final project certifications.
  • Editing, proofreading, and evaluating internal client representative reports before distribution to clients.
  • Conducting research into emerging technologies and equipment relevant to offshore geophysical surveys.
  • Keeping project and database-related spreadsheets current for tracking and invoicing purposes.
  • Organising database information through filing, updating, and managing internal documents and data.
  • Guiding less experienced staff by imparting knowledge and offering counsel in familiar areas.
  • Experience in the technique of ground modelling.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • GIS (ArcMap/ArcPro, QGIS) experience advantageous.
  • Exceptional IT skills.
  • The ability to work as a part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks to tight deadlines.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A full driver’s licence.
  • 2-5 years relevant experience in Geoscience.


Education/Qualifications:


  • A University Degree or Masters in geophysics, or related disciplines.
