We are working on an exciting opportunity for an Open Access Manager to join the team of a leading book publisher in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. This will be an influential role reporting into the Global Director of Research and Open Access, and a role that shapes the future of open access publishing and the publisher's wider OA strategy and operations.

  • Location: London (2 days in the office)
  • Holiday: 25 days + bank holidays + Christmas closure
  • Staff discount on books
  • Wellness days
  • In-house company doctor

And many other amazing benefits! Full details will be provided on application

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide internal OA support and training, serving as the first point of contact for internal queries regarding open access policies and workflows
  • Prepare and deliver training sessions on OA, and coordinate the editorial OA working group
  • Supporting commissioning activities and collaborating with academic editorial teams to develop strategies for commissioning OA books, as well as advising editors and authors on OA funding opportunities and applications
  • Develop and maintain internal OA guidelines and workflow documents, in collaboration with the Metadata team
  • Monitor external OA developments and provide regular updates to staff, including information on OA funding and policy landscapes
  • Compile and analyse reports on OA activity to measure performance against key indicators and inform future projects

Candidate Profile:

We are seeking a dynamic individual with experience in academic book publishing or an OA role at an academic publisher or library. You will be highly organised, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a resourceful approach to queries and innovative thinking, and someone who excels in working positively with colleagues and stakeholders.
