Job Title: Head of People / Head of HR

Location: Central London with many accessible transport / tube links

Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days of your choice in the office each week

Role Overview: An incredible opportunity to join a close-knit, friendly and supportive team of HR and recruitment professionals. Managed by the Director of People and Culture, the team currently consists of: Head of People, Head of Recruitment, Senior Culture and Inclusion Manager, two People Managers, People Advisor, Recruitment Advisor, Early Careers Advisor and two HR Administrators and Payroll Administrator.

The Head of People will lead and manage the HR team, ensuring high performance and promoting strong engagement with the function across the firm.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide professional leadership, support and development to human resources, talent acquisition, learning & development and payroll staff, in order to increase their knowledge, share best commercial practice, and ensure that relevant professional standards
  • Create and nurture a supportive culture of well-being – this involves adopting an employee-centric well-being strategy which helps retain and develop the firm’s most talented people.
  • Work with the Director of People and Culture and the Senior Manager for Inclusion & Diversity to support the implementation of the firm’s approach to equality, diversity, inclusion and participation.
  • Lead on existing and new training programmes across the practice and business teams and to push the boundaries of e-learning and alternative delivery methods to create leading edge training content for everyone in the firm. As well as leading the Partner Development Programme (PDP).
  • Lead the PDP and manage all the key processes of this programme and provide coaching support to those on it, either by coaching them yourself or using external suppliers. Work with a range of external providers to run training for those on PDP over the 2-3 year period.
  • Lead on all promotion processes for employees below partner level, including senior associates.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • CIPD qualified
  • Extensive law firm experience
  • Experience managing a HR/Recruitment team of 4+ people
  • Generalist HR experience at a senior level for at least 5 years
  • A passion for mentoring and developing a HR team
