Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Petroleum Engineer with a strong background in software development to join our team. The ideal candidate will combine their deep understanding of petroleum engineering principles with advanced software development skills to design, develop, and optimize software solutions for the oil and gas industry. This role involves creating custom software tools, improving existing systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technological innovation in petroleum exploration, drilling, and production processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications tailored to petroleum engineering and monitoring needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with petroleum and IT teams to understand requirements, gather feedback, and deliver software solutions that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • System Integration: Integrate custom-built software with existing industry-standard tools and platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
  • Automation: Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline engineering processes, data analysis, and report generation.
  • Data Management: Implement software solutions for the management, analysis, and visualization of large datasets generated from exploration and production activities.
  • User Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to other teams on newly developed software tools, ensuring effective adoption and utilization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for software-driven improvements in petroleum engineering workflows, and lead the development of innovative solutions.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including user guides, technical specifications, and development records.
  • Project Management: Manage software development projects from concept to deployment, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.


Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in petroleum engineering, with at least 3 years in software development or a related role.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Asp.Net c# and Microsoft SQL Server, with experience in developing software for petroleum applications.
  • Software Expertise: Familiarity with industry-standard tools and the ability to develop custom modules or integrate with these platforms.
  • Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of reservoir engineering, drilling operations, production optimization, and related petroleum engineering disciplines.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making and process optimization.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in software development, project management, or petroleum engineering.
  • Experience: Experience working in diverse and multidisciplinary teams, with a proven track record of delivering successful software projects in the oil and gas industry.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to innovate and create cutting-edge solutions that enhance operational efficiency and drive industry advancements.
  • Methodologies: Experience with Agile or other software development methodologies, and version control and project management tools.
