Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled AWS FinOps Consultant with 10 to 15 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in cloud cost management, using tools like CloudHealth, Apptio, or AWS Cost Explorer, and a strong background in AWS technologies, IT consulting, and analytics. This role is responsible for optimizing cloud costs, implementing financial governance, and ensuring efficient utilization of cloud resources to align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Cost Management Strategies:
- Assess, recommend, and implement cloud cost management strategies, including budget forecasting, chargeback mechanisms, and resource allocation.
- Cost Optimization:
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures, such as resource optimization, right-sizing instances, and managing cloud resources to maximize efficiency.
- Financial Governance:
- Advise on and implement cloud cost governance policies, ensuring adherence to best practices for efficient and transparent cloud usage.
- Collaboration with Teams:
- Work closely with finance, operations, and engineering teams to produce accurate budgets and forecasts for cloud spend, ensuring alignment across departments.
- Dashboards and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain dashboards and financial reports for stakeholders at all levels, providing visibility into cloud costs and utilization trends.
- FinOps Education and Training:
- Create and present educational documentation and training materials on FinOps practices, empowering teams to better manage cloud spend and utilization.
- Cost Management Tools:
- Manage data and processes in third-party and internally developed cost management tools, ensuring accurate and reliable financial reporting.
Key Skills and Experience:
- 10 to 15 years of experience in IT consulting with expertise in AWS FinOps and cloud cost optimization.
- Hands-on experience with cloud cost management tools such as CloudHealth, Apptio, AWS Cost Explorer, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud architecture, with a focus on cost-efficiency and resource management.
- Proven ability to implement financial governance and cloud cost optimization strategies in large-scale cloud environments.
- Familiarity with cloud financial operations (FinOps) methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working alongside finance, operations, and engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to create detailed reports and forecasts.
- Effective communication skills to present cloud cost strategies and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
