General Foreman to manage non-infrastructure water schemes in Devon under a major water framework. This role involves overseeing safety, quality, sustainability, and wellbeing across various projects ranging from £1M to £15M.
Purpose of the Role - General Foreman: The General Foreman will be responsible for the operational delivery and day-to-day management of construction processes on non-infrastructure water schemes. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with safety and legal regulations, coordinate teams, and drive the project to completion while maintaining client and stakeholder relationships.
Key Accountabilities - General Foreman:
- Manage health, safety, quality, and sustainability standards on-site.
- Oversee procurement processes and manage subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with external audits and maintain proper site security.
- Plan and coordinate project delivery in conjunction with the site management team.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates and attending meetings.
- Administer reporting systems for deliveries, plant hire, and waste management to maximise profitability.
- Mentor and develop on-site operatives and ensure participation in staff development programs.
Competency Requirements - General Foreman: - Proven experience working for a major Tier 1 contractor on water projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements.
- Experience in staff management and mentoring.
- Background in civil engineering with experience in water projects.
- CITB Level 3 Safety Course, SMSTS (5-day), and appropriate CSCS card.
- First Aid at Work (4-day) qualification.
- Proficiency in IT software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of temporary works and behavioural safety training.
Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications - General Foreman: - Civil engineering background with experience in water infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of CDM/H&S at a supervisory level.
- Appointed Person and Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
- Training in lean construction principles.
- Practical training in contract forms, scaffolding, formwork, and concrete technology.
