We are currently looking for an experienced Test Engineer who will develop and support a variety of test automation solutions and be responsible for testing our software products, contributing to the continual improvement of RSC platforms. It is an exciting role in which you will act as the sole tester in a fast-paced Agile team, ensuring all testing activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate.
Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge office, however we are currently embracing hybrid working, and therefore you will have the opportunity to also work mostly from a UK location other than this, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend our Cambridge or London offices and travel as required in their role.
In this role you will:
Act as the sole tester in a fast-paced Agile team, ensuring all testing activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
Designing, writing, and executing both manual and automated functional tests for product deliverables, including functional, regression, UAT, and API testing.
Collaborating with team members such as Developers, Business Analysts, UX Designers, and Product Owners to align on requirements, development, and testing efforts.
Managing feature testing activities—from test design and analysis to execution, defect tracking, and test estimation.
Actively participating in daily stand-ups, story grooming sessions, and team retrospectives.
Developing and implementing testing strategies, test plans, and automation frameworks.
Partnering with senior team members to enhance testing processes and continuously improve skillsets.
Requirements:
Essential
Practical experience in software testing in Agile environment and understanding of testing processes and test life cycle
Experience of exploratory testing
Technically proficient with C# for writing and debugging automated test scripts preferably using Selenium
Experience of working in fast paced Agile/DevOps environments, familiar with Scrum/Kanban
Experience of software management tools (eg Jira and Confluence)
Understanding of Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration(CD/CI) pipelines
Attention to detail, with a logical approach to problem solving and an investigative and inquisitive mind
Understanding of user needs, user stories, and a business outcome approach to work
A professional attitude, building and maintaining relationships with our customers and demonstrating a customer-focused behaviour at all times
Strong team player with excellent communication skills and stakeholder management
