Your new company Somerset Council is a unitary authority, governing the district of Somerset in the Southwest of England. A dynamic vision puts the people of Somerset at the heart of what we do, a council who will be there for residents whenever needed. As a newly formed council, there is an opportunity to harness it by bringing together experience, expertise, assets, and networks from five predecessor councils, creating a stronger position to advocate for Somerset on regional, national, and international platforms.
Your new role
As a professional estate surveyor with a background in disposal and strategic work, you will lead the disposal of surplus property and other related estate management tasks for a wide range of council property in order to deliver business change and capital receipts. As part of this role, you will represent the council's strategic asset management department, providing professional advice and expertise to wider stakeholders across the council.
What you'll need to succeed In order to succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate a strong and up-to-date knowledge of property and landlord and tenant law, alongside having an current membership of RICS. The ability to manage multiple stakeholders is essential and experience of working in a local government or public sector environment would be useful, but not critical. If you enjoy working at pace, whilst managing workloads efficiently and effectively, then this would be a fantastic new role for you.
What you'll get in return A role with Somerset Council will offer training and support, as well as guidance to help you to be the best that you can be in your role.
