Job Description

Please note this is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days per week required in our Windsor office.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior SQL Developer to join our database team. In this unique role, the successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Business Intelligence to design and develop new solutions and enhancements within our custom leads and call center management applications.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience developing and implementing robust, high-quality solutions on a Microsoft SQL platform.
  • Outstanding SQL skills coupled to a solid understanding of database concepts like concurrency, normalization, performance tuning, and exception handling.
  • Knowledge of data modelling and database design principles.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and the features and tools available within.
  • Experience with version control (git)
  • Excellent communication skills.

The responsibilities of this position:

  • Liaise with Business Intelligence to understand their objectives and requirements.
  • Design and implement new tables and data structures.
  • Develop stored procedures, functions and other code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
  • Collaborate with other developers to ensure seamless integration of solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Business Intelligence:

- Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather BI requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

- Development and maintenance of complex datasets needed for reports, dashboards, and visualizations using BI tools such as Power BI or similar

2. Production Code Development:

- Write and maintain production-level code to support lead management and CRM applications and systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.

- Collaborate with software developers to integrate SQL components seamlessly into applications.

3. Performance Tuning:

- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

- Conduct regular reviews of SQL code and queries for performance improvements.

4. Data Extraction and Transformation:

- Design and develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for efficient data extraction and transformation.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure accurate and timely delivery of BI solutions.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a SQL Analyst / Developer with a focus on BI and production-level code.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
  • Knowledge of software development best practices and ability to write production-level performant SQL code.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must be happy to commute to our head office in Windsor, Berkshire at least once a week.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Programming skills in languages such as C# or Python
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
