Service purpose:

To provide statutory functions and ensure the Council s financial resources are used and monitored in accordance with financial regulations.

Job purpose:

To provide administrative support for the Council s insurance function.

Core accountabilities:
  1. To support the Finance Manager in delivering the provision of an accountancy service for the authority, in particular insurance administration:
  • Insurance claims handling
  • Maintenance of database of insurance claims
  • Provision of insurance advice
  • Attending Court Proceedings on behalf of EDDC, where necessary
  1. Liaise with internal clients and external contacts to progress and support insurance claims, including insurance broker, insurance provider, claims handler, appointed solicitor and loss adjuster.
  2. Maintenance of insurance claims database and assist with the development of the system and reporting.
  3. Assist in completion of annual insurance renewal documentation.
  4. Contribute to reports for members, Strategic Leadership Team and partner working groups to consider on issues relating to the Accountancy Team s functions.
  1. Make sure that Finance Team offers a customer focused service using systems thinking principles.
  1. Support the Council s approach to equalities and diversity ensuring that our services and policies identify, address and promote the needs of our diverse community. This includes the need for safety of children and other vulnerable people.
  1. Take personal responsibility for the relevant aspects of the Council s Health and Safety Policy.
  1. Ensure awareness and compliance with the Council s policies, Code of Conduct and Constitution.
  1. Evaluate and assist in managing risk within the service.
