In a Nutshell

As an OCTO Sales Technician your workload will vary between customer facing and non-customer facing activity which will include both technical and sales-oriented tasks. OCTO is our premier connected lighting solution, which allows users complete control of their luminaires via an intuitive app or smart accessories.

 

Under your technical remit you can expect to travel to locations all over the UK and ROI, on a weekly basis, to meet with clients, their customers, electrical contractors, facilities teams etc. to help commission their OCTO lighting control solution.

 

Under your sales remit you can expect to be contacting new and existing clients (both billing type and specifier type customers) and arranging demonstration type ‘presentations’ introducing them to OCTO. Target customers will initially include wholesaler sales staff (and their in-house lighting design teams), mid to large scale electrical contractors and commercial/industrial architectural practices.

The Role's Key Result Areas

Support

  • To administer and manage every OCTO project of scale or significance and to ensure records are up to date and accurate.
  • To establish a pipeline of opportunities and, with ASM input, track their progress to ensure the ASM is actively supported.

 

Sales

  • To identify, vet and approach key new potential clients in specification and building industries.
  • To follow-up on information/leads relayed from colleagues.
  • To attend trade shows and ‘demo days’ with an eye to attract more sales interest.
  • To grow the sales number by seeding the concept of OCTO with more influencers of the sales chain.

 

Technical

  • To be on hand to answer any OCTO technical query that cannot be fielded by any appointed OCTO Specialist and/or Technical Dept.
  • To document any advice given and to follow up with other departments, by means of standardised report, to ensure any lessons are learned by all.
  • To assist the commissioning of projects remotely via phone/video call.
  • To lead and/or assist the commissioning of projects on-site.
  • Bridging the customer’s problem to the right solution and assist with delivery of the project.

  • Support the Operations Manager in adherence to Health and Safety Regulations at all times.

  •  Establish, maintain and promote a positive working relationship with staff at all levels.
  • Conduct all communications with external stakeholders with a high degree of professionalism and a friendly positive ethos.


Are you right for us?

Our successful OCTO Sales Technician will have/be;

  • At least 1 year in selling a technical product or in a technical support type role.
  • Experience within the lighting industry and/or controls industry. Worked with components for building.
  • Wireless / Bluetooth mesh infrastructure experience / commissioning. (Desirable)
  • An understanding of building construction and lighting infrastructure.
  • A high level of App/Applet understanding and of Smart home/device setup.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Clean & full car drivers’ licence. Valid passport/right to reside.
  • A technical understanding of electronics and luminaires. (Desirable) 
  • Casambi knowledge (Desirable)
  • An enthusiastic and proactive problem solver.
  • Highly committed individual
  • One who is willing to self-teach and surround themselves in everything designed to make our spaces more intelligent.
  • Must be able to deliver a personable and detail-oriented solution to any colleague or customer.
  • Able to communicate clearly at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Able to understand complex issues and implement solutions.
  • Must have a professional work ethos.
