My client are a global offshore marine engineering consultancy. The opportunity here is extremely unique in the sense that this is essentially a brand-new position, within a highly mature UK Engineering Team, and all of its service disciplines.

As a part of the team providing project support and cost control to the diverse range of marine consultancy projects, you will be integral to the delivery of successful projects to their clients as they meet the challenges of the sea in globally important offshore energy and infrastructure projects. You will prepare and report on project revenue and cost budgets, including the tracking, management and reporting of project revenue and expenditure to enable robust control of projects throughout their lifecycle. You will also raise the purchase orders, invoices and gather the cost information that underpins the effective delivery of projects.


Duties and Responsibilities – Project Controller/Administrator


  • Provide integrated and end-to-end project support throughout the project lifecycle, including during client and supplier set up, proposal phases, project creation and delivery, procurement, time and expense gathering, invoicing, and project closeout.
  • Liaising with other project disciplines and functions assist and support the development of project breakdowns for work, revenue, cost and budgets, including man-hour estimates
  • Facilitate the smooth delivery of projects by preparing and issuing purchase orders to internal and external suppliers according to company policies and project execution plans
  • Work with colleagues and third parties to ensure accurate and timely capture of labour manhour, expense, subcontract, procurement and materials costs. Ensure costs are allocated accurately in accordance with project structures.
  • Produce accurate project invoices to internal and external clients according to invoicing milestones and monthly routines
  • Perform cost and progress monitoring and reporting and assist with project revenue and cost forecasting
  • Participate in office administration activities as required.


Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required


  • 2-5 years' experience of working in a project administration / project control role, with responsibility for cost control in an organisation that sells engineering or technical hours-based services
  • Basic knowledge of cost software and related principles, tools and techniques including budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow
  • Competent user of Enterprise Resource Planning, and Expense software.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, in particular MS Excel.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy.
