Automation / Material Handling Specialist (Multi-skilled)

Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00

Our client, a leadingB projects specialist in Market Harborough, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer with expertise in material handling systems, along with strong electrical background and an understanding of mechanical fundamentals.

About the Role:

You'll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing complex material handling equipment, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime. Your electrical expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting and improving automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on material handling equipment
• Develop and implement Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in conveyor systems, automated guided vehicles, and robotic picking systems
• Implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption
• Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Requirements:

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 3 years' experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in material handling environments
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLC programming, and motor controls
• Experience with conveyor systems, robotics, and automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and on-call shifts
