Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a design and manufacturing focused technology business, seek to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer with a manufacturing facility near Cleckheaton. You will need to be comfortable reviewing engineering drawings and BOMs are fit for purpose when released to the manufacturing team and have previous experience of providing technical support to production, assembly, test and quality teams involved in product manufacture. You need CAD skills and a lot of common sense!

This is an opportunity to join a market leading business who operate on prestigious and lucrative projects. As Mechanical Design Engineer you will have a varied role working alongside end user clients, a matrix managed engineering function and manufacturing staff.

• Lead and manage research and development of new and existing products and components- from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and timeline
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, production and product management, to define project goals, deliverables, and success criteria
• Design, develop, and implement innovative solutions, prototypes, and proof-of-concept models based on project requirements
• Create detailed drawings for designs including General Assemblies
• Create and manage BOM (Bill of Material) data for all Designed, Produced and Assembled items
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations to determine the viability and scalability of proposed solutions
• Develop and execute test plans, experiments, and validation protocols to assess the performance and reliability of developed prototypes

R&D Project Engineer - Skills and Abilities - Project Manager, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Energy, Building Services, Fabrication

• Degree in Mechanical, Energy or Building Services Engineering would be ideal
• Experience with sheet metal would be advantageous
• Hands on approach to design
• Good knowledge of a high-end 3D and 2D CAD systems, Ideally SolidWorks and AutoCAD or similar
