Mechanical Supervisor

As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will oversee a variety of mechanical and commercial projects across London. This business-critical role requires managing the day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulations. Working closely with the Projects Manager, you will provide updates, audits, and cost reports to maintain project compliancy. You will also collaborate with subcontractors and internal teams to meet deadlines, customer expectations, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage multiple site-based mechanical projects, ensuring adherence to manufacturer instructions, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Produce and maintain clear, compliant paperwork, aligning with legislation and best practices.
  • Oversee subcontractors on-site to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of work packages as the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to optimize project costs and timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager and Quantity Surveyor to provide accurate pricing for works.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment, complying with company and customer policies and procedures as a Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, customers, and site personnel, delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Represent the company professionally, ensuring a high standard of customer engagement at all times.
  • Commit to continuous professional development and maintain technical skills through learning and training as a Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Liaise with various trades involved in plant room rebuilds or commercial boiler replacements, handling projects ranging from 100Kw to 5Mw combined capacity.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical jargon into simple terms for diverse audiences.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematic diagrams as a Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Proficient in maintaining comprehensive and accurate project records using a PDA system for traceability.
  • Comfortable working at heights and handling a variety of materials and equipment safely.
  • Leadership qualities to mentor junior staff when required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in supervising mechanical projects within the construction or building services sector.
  • Proven track record in managing teams and subcontractors on-site as a Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Familiarity with commercial mechanical systems, including plant room rebuilds and commercial boiler systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely lift and carry materials and equipment.
  • Competent to work at heights using scaffolding and mobile elevating platforms.
