What You’ll Do:
- Innovate and Lead: You’ll define and lead mission systems research activities, focusing on developing forward-thinking architectures, concepts, and designs. Collaborate with top industry professionals and partners to bring revolutionary ideas to life.
- Drive Engineering Excellence: Ensure rigorous engineering governance across all activities, working closely with specialized teams in areas like Ground Test, Flight Test, and Flight Operations. Your work will be pivotal in maintaining the highest standards.
- Influence Future Capabilities: Engage in technology watch activities, contribute to capability development, and play a key role in systems delivery reviews. Your insights will help identify and mitigate technical risks, driving success in every project.
- Support Business Growth: Use your technical expertise to contribute to business-winning strategies, crafting compelling business cases and proposals that highlight the value of innovation.
- Lead and Inspire: Manage a small, talented team of engineers, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Your leadership will be critical in pushing the boundaries of traditional engineering and inspiring new ways of thinking.
What You Bring:
- Strong Technical Background: A degree/HND in a STEM subject or equivalent experience, preferably in Systems Engineering. You have a deep understanding of Model-Based Engineering (MBE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML/UML.
- Software Engineering Skills: Proficiency in software engineering practices, including SOLID principles and experience with high-level programming languages such as C, C++, or Java.
- Agile Methodology Experience: Practical knowledge of applying Agile methods across project lifecycles, from planning to execution.
- Mission Systems Expertise: Extensive experience in mission systems design, development, integration, and certification. You’re skilled in experimental approaches to research and problem-solving.
- Architectural Knowledge: Familiarity with open systems architectures like the Pyramid Reference Architecture (PRA), FACE, ECOA, and modern software-driven approaches like containerization and microservices.
- Communication and Leadership: Exceptional communication skills and the ability to distil complex technical information for various stakeholders. You’re a natural leader who can inspire and drive innovation.
