Location: Sugwas, Herefordshire, HR4 7PU
Salary: Competitive, Dependant on Experience + Excellent Benefits!
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Yard / Workshop Hours: Normally Monday Friday, 6 am to 3.30 pm.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and reliable Yard Operative / Forklift Driver to join our dynamic team.

The Yard Operative / Fork Lift Truck Driver plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our yard.

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of materials, ensuring the smooth flow of products and supplies throughout the yard.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of warehouse and yard operations, with a focus on safety, precision, and teamwork.

As our Yard Operative / Fork Lift Truck Driver you will be responsible for:

  • Material Handling: Operate counter balance and combi lift forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and move materials around the yard and place them in there designated areas. Picking oak from our stock system and preparing it for machining.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with the organization and management of inventory, ensuring materials are stored properly and efficiently to prevent damage and facilitate easy access. Picking and collecting materials ready for dispatch.
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload timber, wall and roof panel packs , and other materials from delivery trucks and trailers, ensuring that all materials are handled with care.
  • Yard Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized yard, including regular inspections to identify and report any hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the yard and production teams to ensure that materials are delivered to the correct locations in a timely manner, supporting overall project efficiency.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, safe operation of machinery, and reporting of any incidents or unsafe conditions.
  • Quality Control: Inspect materials for quality and report any discrepancies or damages to the relevant departments.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts and other yard equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and reporting any issues promptly.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

  • Valid forklift operator's license.
  • Proven experience operating forklifts, preferably in a yard or warehouse environment.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness, with the ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Effective communication skills.
