DJF Solicitors is seeking an experienced and dynamic Family Solicitor to lead the Family Law Department at our Chapman & Chubb office. As Head of Department, you will oversee all family law matters, including both children-related cases and complex financial disputes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, strategic vision, and a client-centric approach to ensure continued success and growth of the department.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to play a key role in shaping the direction of the family law team while enjoying the flexibility of up to 2 days of remote working per week.


Key Responsibilities:


Leadership & Departmental Management:

  • Lead the Family Law Department, managing casework and ensuring the smooth running of operations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior members of the team, including a highly experienced assistant.
  • Work closely with the support team to maintain high standards of client care and case management.
  • Report regularly to senior management on the department's performance, client outcomes, and business development opportunities.


Family Law Casework:

  • Manage a varied caseload covering all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial remedies, cohabitation disputes, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, and child arrangements.
  • Provide expert legal advice and representation in both contentious and non-contentious family law matters.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legal standards.


Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering tailored advice and ensuring their legal needs are met with professionalism and empathy.
  • Handle complex and sensitive family law cases, ensuring a client-focused approach at all times.
  • Assist with business development, networking, and generating new client opportunities for the Family Law Department.


Person Specification:


Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 3 years PQE (Post-Qualified Experience) in family law.
  • Member of Resolution (preferred) or willingness to join.


Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience across all areas of family law, including children and financial matters.
  • Strong background in managing a broad range of family law cases, including complex financial disputes and high-net-worth cases.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role is desirable but not essential.

  • Strong advocacy and negotiation abilities.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to handle sensitive family matters with care and discretion.

  • Strong commercial awareness with a keen interest in the growth of the department.
