Position Overview:

I am seeking a Test Engineer to join thr expanding team in Leyland, working on the testing and development of the next generation of driveline products, including electric vehicle (EV) systems. This role is perfect for someone passionate about innovation and keen to develop skills in the rapidly evolving field of driveline and Electric Drive Unit (EDU) testing.

You will be supported with training and development opportunities and will work on exciting projects involving premium OEMs and Tier-1 customers across various sectors, including automotive and motorsport.

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, Environment & Security:

  • Create and maintain job-specific risk assessments for all tests performed.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in designated areas.

Customer Service:

  • Provide regular updates to customers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to their expectations.
  • Deliver accurate and timely test reports with a focus on Right First Time (RFT) and On-Time Delivery (OTD).

Technical Excellence:

  • Execute tests to high professional standards, using appropriate resources and within deadlines.
  • Review, analyse, and validate test data and results.
  • Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and documentation is up to date.
  • Identify and implement improvements in systems of work, data handling, and processes.

Project Involvement:

  • Participate in all aspects of the test program life cycle, from fixture design and equipment installation to test execution and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with in-house engineering teams and customers throughout the testing process.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics).
  • A strong interest in driveline testing and development, including high-voltage (HV) electric machines.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in driveline testing or mechanical/electric vehicle drive systems.
  • Knowledge of test bed control systems and CAN communication.
  • Proficiency in CAD, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • High-voltage awareness (training will be provided).

  • Customer-focused with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute as part of a team.

Additional Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to own transport (Leyland site is not easily accessible by public transport).
  • Flexibility to travel as required.
  • Willingness to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check.
