From motorways to tramways, nuclear power plants to smart cities, clients choose us to help them solve their most complex challenges - delivering climate-responsible growth that meets the needs of communities, industry, and the planet.
With over 50 years of experience in the rail industry, we've delivered complex and challenging multidisciplinary projects all over the world. Our expertise extends to depots, operations, maintenance analytics, and asset management across all aspects of rail, including transport, technical and sustainability assessments, and systems infrastructure.
We are looking for an Engineering Technical Director to provide technical leadership in the EGIS 'Design Centre' to a multidisciplinary Engineering team for EGIS Transportation - UK.
As the Engineering Director, you'll be a member of the Egis Senior Leadership Team for Transportation UK and responsible for the operational management of the multidisciplinary Rail and Transport team. Representing Egis at the national level, you'll build and maintain client relationships and senior networks in the public and private sectors.
The role will support projects across the UK as well as Ireland and Scandinavia.

You will work closely with existing Egis Transportation Service Line Directors to develop and enhance the engineering team to support current and future business plans. This is focused across heavy rail (Intercity), light rail (Urban), and heavy civils (Structures) service lines and will include both organic and M&A growth.
Deliver a people-first approach in the day-to-day management of the engineering team, and establish a dynamic, pragmatic, and innovative culture. This will draw on the experience of the wider Egis global business to synthesize international knowledge and ensure alignment to the UK market.
Providing technical leadership on tenders and projects ranging from £50k to £50m. A key aspect is developing the overall technical capability of the UK business to support the growth ambition of Egis in the UK, Ireland, and Nordics.
Responsible for the development of the engineering directorate. This will include senior recruitment, professional reviews, graduate training and mentoring strategy, management of supply chains, and technical innovation and standards briefings.
The role will involve engagement with transport working groups, engineering institutions, heavy and light rail committees/forums, and the wider Egis group. Working with our Service Line Directors to develop and build strong client relationships and professional networks, undertake business development, and lead on tendering opportunities to support the growth of the business and achieve revenue targets.
