Job Title: Sustainability and Compliance Manager

Location: Midlands Office 3 days Remote 2 days


Overview:

We are partnering with a leading organisation in search of an experienced and passionate Sustainability and Compliance Manager. This newly created role presents an exciting opportunity to take a leadership position in ensuring a sustainably managed supply chain that not only meets local regulatory requirements but also aligns with the global group's strategic sustainability objectives. Reporting to the newly appointed Head of Quality, Compliance, and Sustainability, you will work closely with department heads, driving the implementation of sustainability strategies and supporting the integration of best practices across the organization. This role is ideal for someone deeply committed to sustainability, who can translate that passion into actionable steps to embed environmental initiatives and compliance across the business.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

  • Champion sustainable initiatives and ensure compliance within the UK operations, working collaboratively with stakeholders to embed these principles into daily practices.
  • Provide training and education on sustainability topics to staff members, ensuring sustainability is a core focus across the business.

2. Compliance Management:

  • Develop and manage product compliance policies, ensuring alignment with industry standards such as WEEE, COSHH, UKCA, RoHS, and others.
  • Monitor evolving regulations and ensure the organization remains compliant with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

3. Sustainability Focus:

  • Lead initiatives to evaluate and minimize the company's environmental impact, including energy and waste reduction programs.
  • Develop and oversee sustainability projects that aim to reduce the environmental footprint of operations.

4. Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Partner with supply chain teams to ensure sustainable sourcing of products, conduct supply chain audits, and collaborate on sustainability benchmarks.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards to track and report on compliance and sustainability metrics, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.

5. Internal and External Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on sustainability and compliance, engaging with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and the broader Group.
  • Lead efforts to benchmark sustainability goals, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry best practices.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with proven leadership in sustainability and compliance within a warehouse, production, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of social and environmental responsibility within the supply chain, with particular expertise in sectors such as electronics, metal hardware, and wood products.
  • In-depth knowledge of chain of custody, traceability, and regulatory requirements related to sustainability.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing complex, cross-functional sustainability initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable plans for diverse teams.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation in sustainability efforts.
