As the EPR Configuration Manager, you will be responsible for the configuration, customization, and ongoing optimization of an Electronic Patient Record system. You will collaborate with clinicians, IT teams, and operational staff to ensure that the system is configured to support accurate data entry, compliance with regulatory standards, and seamless integration with healthcare processes. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will drive the success of the EPR system in delivering efficient and effective patient care.


Key Responsibilities:


  • System Configuration: Lead the configuration of the EPR system to meet organizational requirements, including workflows, forms, templates, and user interfaces.
  • Clinical and Operational Alignment: Work closely with healthcare professionals to understand their needs and translate these into system configurations that support clinical workflows and patient care.
  • Customization: Manage and implement customizations to the EPR system to enhance functionality while maintaining system integrity and compliance.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop and execute testing plans to ensure that all configurations are functioning as expected and meet both clinical and regulatory requirements.
  • Change Control: Oversee change control processes to manage updates, enhancements, and fixes, ensuring that all changes are documented, tested, and communicated effectively.
  • User Support and Training: Collaborate with training teams to develop user guides and training materials. Provide direct support to users on configuration-related issues.
  • System Optimization: Continuously evaluate the EPR system post-implementation and recommend enhancements to improve user experience and system performance.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with EPR system vendors to implement updates, troubleshoot issues, and manage ongoing support agreements.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of configuration settings, change requests, and system updates.


Qualifications:


Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in configuring EPR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, SystmOne) within a healthcare environment.
  • Proven track record of managing system configuration in complex healthcare settings.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operational processes.


Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications in EPR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and IT project management (PMP, ITIL) are preferred.


Skills:

  • Strong technical skills with the ability to configure complex systems to meet clinical and operational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and compliance regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).


Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in EPR systems, database management, and healthcare IT infrastructure. Experience with data migration, system testing, and integration with other healthcare systems.
