Your primary focus will be on analysis, design, and assessments. While chartered status is preferred, it's not a deal-breaker.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out safety and welfare duties
- Preparing analysis and calculations by hand and using software such as LUSAS
- Creating detailed and neat calculations
- Providing expert advice and engineering knowledge to deliver projects successfully
- Preparing sketches of engineering solutions
- Checking own work and reviewing the work of others
Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Designing, planning, and programming highway structures works and services
- Offering clear and effective project leadership
- Managing and monitoring works programmes or services
- Mentoring junior staff in structural design and development of highway structures schemes
- Reviewing and checking the work of team members
- Assisting the team leader and deputising in their absence
- Controlling budgets and ensuring financial management
- Preparing monthly progress reports and programme updates
Job Requirements:
- Experience in structural design, specifically with bridge and retaining wall structures
- Proficiency in structural design codes, DMRB, MCHW, and CDM regulations
- Strong technical analysis skills and the ability to lead a small design team
- Ability to work within or across a team, delivering structure refurbishment, assessment, and replacement schemes
- Initiative and a detailed understanding of structural engineering principles
- Excellent communication skills for mentoring junior staff and ensuring high standards
