Project Planner (Mission Critical Construction)

Location: Wolverhampton

Employment type: Permanent/on-site

Salary: £55,000-£60,000


A client of TGS is currently in need of a Project Planner in their Wolverhampton office. As a professional in the Planning domain, you would assume the responsibility of establishing and maintaining controls for project planning while ensuring accurate reporting across various projects.


You'll be working on an array of projects based in the UK and Europe, with builds including governmental buildings, pharmaceutical sites and data centres.


Your responsibilities:


  • Generate a foundational schedule using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project software, adhering to company procedures, industry best practices, and client specifications.
  • Develop schedules for project delivery using a hierarchical structure and communicate them to the project team.
  • Construct distinct templates and model programs for Pre-construction, construction, and commissioning stages.
  • Formulate detailed schedules covering design, procurement, installation, and close-out phases.
  • Integrate trade contractors’ schedules into the company schedule hierarchy.
  • Convey scheduling and project control matters to all project team members, including the company, client, design team, and trade contractors.
  • Oversee progress reporting and integrate progress information into company progress reports.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, and produce weekly/monthly dashboards and reports.
  • Participate in the change management process to assess the impact of changes on the program.
  • Create and oversee the commissioning program, including the development of commissioning KPIs and reporting mechanisms.
  • Prepare time impact analyses to support extension of time claims and evaluate such claims from trade contractors.
  • Provide mentoring and training to junior staff.



What you'll need for the role:


  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience as an M&E Planner, preferably on high-end residential or commercial building services projects.
  • Essential experience with MS Project and a background in construction planning in Mechanical/Electrical Building Services contracting.
  • Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to produce comprehensive reports.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, enabling effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, adhering to strict timelines.
