Packaging Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Packaging Technologist / Packaging Specialist to support packaging development projects across various Cosmetics and Toiletries brands. You will act as the lead packaging expert, collaborating with cross-functional teams in Product Development, Purchasing, and Production, while ensuring compliance with market regulations.

This is a hands-on role, requiring someone with excellent technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage packaging projects from concept to commercialisation. The ideal candidate will be proactive, a great communicator, and capable of maintaining flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the packaging development of new product innovations and renovations for key customer accounts, ensuring market compliance and on-time delivery.
• Risk assess packaging components throughout the development process and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure accurate packaging specifications and successful line trials.
• Keep up to date with evolving environmental packaging legislation and adjust processes as necessary.
• Manage packaging testing protocols, print proofs, and ensure product compliance with regulations.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives and process improvements within the packaging work stream.
• Provide technical guidance to production teams, suppliers, and customers.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a STEM/Scientific-related discipline, such as Packaging Design, Cosmetic Science, or Chemical Engineering.
• Strong technical background in packaging, with knowledge of different pack formats and their benefits and risks.
• Experience in packaging development, artwork review, and packaging testing.
• Knowledge of blow-mould, Masterbatch, and print/proofs is desirable.
• Previous experience in cosmetics or healthcare products is preferred.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
