Your responsibilities:-

  • Design the electrical / electronic layout of the equipment based on specification and the functionality of the final equipment.
  • Perform detailed design risk assessment to confirm design with peers and senior engineers and product owner and improve design based on feedback.
  • Validate design during the implementation phase on the equipment.
  • Take design from prototype phase to full production.
  • Fully test equipment to confirm that the electrical and electronic requirements have been fully achieved.
  • Fully document all electrical and electronic schematics and components on the equipment.
  • Liaise with suppliers and production teams to complete and maintain technical files containing work instructions, BOM, CAD drawings (AutoCad), schematics, datasheets etc.
  • A full understanding of the CE / UKCA marking process , be able to evaluate the safety of design, assess Performance Level and Category of the equipment and advise on appropriate components and designs to meet required safety standards.
  • Gather information on technical issues and escalate and provide potential solutions.

What you need to be successful

BSC/BEng (or equivalent) in Engineering, Maths, Physics or engineering discipline

  • Experience in creating electrical design and PCB for control of machinery or instruments (control of motors, solenoid valves, actuators, DC motors, stepper motors, PNP sensors, encoders, etc).
  • Firmware / software programming skills (Beckhoff desirable)
  • Experience wiring electrical cabinets with PLC.
  • Experience in designing and printing PCBs and using hand-tools for soldering on both SMT and PTH type PCBs.
  • Experience in trouble-shooting PCBs.
  • Experience designing machine Category 3 PLd.
  • Experience using multi-meter and oscilloscope
  • Ability to read mechanical/electrical/electronic drawings.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical
  • Proficiency using MS PowerPoint and Excel.
