Hillary Cooper Law is looking for a (full time and or Part-time; min 3 days a week ) Property, Landlord & Tenant/Housing Caseworker with a strong, proven track record of Court & Tribunal Advocacy experience (the candidate should ideally also have some experience in contested cases)

This role is specifically suited for those who have completed training at The Bar and who have been called to The Bar (i.e. persons with good BVC/BPTC/BTC qualifications and who is are member of one of the Inns of Court)

The perfect candidate will be an experienced Housing & Property Law Caseworker who will support the firm’s growing Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department in the following areas of law:

 

  • Contentious Private Property and Landlord & Tenant Law – acting for private & commercial clients.

 

  • Social Housing and Housing Loss Prevention Advice Services- acting for defendants/claimants under Legal Aid.

 

  • Debt and Insolvency – acting for both private clients and defendants/claimants under Legal Aid

 

  • Welfare Benefits – acting for defendants/ claimants under Legal Aid

 

 

  • To be successful in this role it is essential that you have good and demonstrable experience of/and a working knowledge of the above areas of law.

 

  • You will demonstrate that you have experience in dealing with homelessness reviews, appeals, possession cases (including mortgage repossession), unlawful eviction and disrepair claims.

 

  • Prior demonstrable experience of Court and/or Tribunal Advocacy skills is mandatory and essential.

 

  • Ideally, you will also have experience with the Legal Aid Portal (CCMS).

 

  • You must be proactive and dedicated to delivering excellent client care while managing a busy and varied workload. You should also be able to work independently as well as part of a dynamic and focused team.
